Towdah Mews
The design of this residential complex of two buildings (the Villa and the Apartment Block) was aimed at maximizing the use of the site to ensure commercial viability as well as create homes, plus an environment, that raises the spirit of the residents beyond the norms of the city.
In the Villa, the Client’s residence, we have further explored or ‘spine’ design. In this context the spine is set at a diagonal to the rectilinear form. The resulting benefit of this are the delightful double and triple volume space along the stairs and vertical circulation
In both buildings, the internal spaces all have large glaze opening of windows and sliding doors, thereby maximising the interplay between interior spaces and external gardens. The harmonious use of natural stones cladding and exposed timber rafters, with over extended eaves, ensure the contemporary design is rooted in it tropical regionalism.
